My Experience Tidying & Waking Up To Live!
I “Marie Kondo’d” my home.
Not just because it was time for spring cleaning but because Marie Kondo moved me.
I read her book in tandem with another, braiding the philosophical threads into my daily living.
I did this because I felt like a fraud. I’ was writing a book called “The Ben Franklin Effect,” which recommends a path to virtue. In my book, I curated and compiled some of society’s best books to form a series of reading lists for my audience. Many of the books I recommended are books that I’ve read and have transformed my philosophy in powerful and productive ways. However, one or two of the books I suggested were books I’d never read, like Marie Kondo’s book. I understood the basics, but I hadn’t read the book. My wife watches the show, but I only heard second-hand stories.
So, I read the book — and it transformed my life.
I also read “Wake Up and Live” by Dorothea Brand. And so, it was like being on a tandem bicycle with both authors — I was sandwiched between two beautiful and transforming concepts that I didn’t know yet. Still, it was precisely what my soul needed for the catharsis that was about to transpire.
